COLLABORATE
Quantum is an evolving artwork built, in part, from moving images created by other artists.
If you make video, animation, photography-based motion work, CGI, AI-generated imagery, or other forms of moving image, you are invited to submit work for consideration.
Selected works may become part of Quantum’s visual library and appear within the installation.
A future compensation structure is planned in which participating artists may receive residual payments based on the use of their work. That system is still being developed. At this stage, submissions are voluntary and participation is unpaid.
VIDEO SPECIFICATIONS
- Vertical 9:16 format
- 4K resolution or higher
- Minimum length: 3 seconds
- Maximum length: 6 seconds
- Must contain motion. Still images are not accepted.
- Work may originate from any medium, including film, video, photography, hand-drawn animation, stop-motion, digital animation, motion graphics, CGI, 3D animation, generative or code-based imagery, AI, or combinations of these.
- All submitted work must be original and submitted by its creator. You must own or control the rights to all imagery and other material contained in the work. Work incorporating another artist’s copyrighted material without permission will not be accepted.
CURATORIAL PREFERENCES
Quantum is highly curated. Submission does not guarantee inclusion.
I have a particular interest in non-figurative and abstract work, although representational work is welcome.
I am drawn to work that feels contemporary, visually immediate, experimental, strange, beautiful, unexpected, or difficult to categorize.
Meta or self-reflexive work is welcome, including imagery that acknowledges the screen, the viewer, the act of looking, technology, artificiality, or its own construction.
Text can be difficult to read within Quantum because images may appear very briefly. Work dependent on written language may therefore be less effective.
Political work is not excluded, but Quantum does not necessarily endorse the political positions expressed by contributing artists, nor is explicitly political work a particular curatorial priority.
These are preferences, not absolute rules. Exceptional work can break any of them.
Ultimately, every submission is subject to personal curation by Oliver Warden and may be accepted or rejected for any artistic or technical reason.
If you think your work belongs inside Quantum, submit it.
